With the tremendous success of her first-starring movie “A Very Special Love”, is Sarah Geronimo the new box-office queen?
There are no reports yet with the final haul of the Sarah-John Lloyd movie because it’s still showing in theaters but Star Cinema claims it already reached P134 million on it’s first 2 weeks alone beating the record set earlier this year by Sharon Cuneta’s “Caregiver.”
But of course, there is no doubt that the box-office king title remains with John Lloyd Cruz because his movie with Bea Alonzo “One More Chance” was last year’s no. 1 movie and this year, “A Very Special Love” will try to surpass that.
So if Bea Alonzo or Sharon Cuneta will be trumped by Sarah Geronimo, the popstar princess can be the new “Nora Aunor.”
One of the factors that made “A Very Special Love” a monster hit is the solid fanbase of Sarah. Despite the protest of John Lloyd-Bea fans to boycott the John Lloyd-Sarah movie, it was “un-shaked” in any way. Even in the US, Sarah was hailed as the new “superstar”, a triple-threat if you must.
In Starmometer’s “100 Most Beautiful Pinays”, Sarah placed 3rd in 2006 and 2nd in 2007, a living proof that her fans are in total support for their idol. Maybe the masa can identify with her, although she’s not stunningly beautiful but she’s pretty just the same.
So if you wanna bet if Sarah Geronimo will become the Box-Office Queen of 2008, i think it’s pretty no risk at all because the odds are favoring the popstar princess.

I have watched AVSL on it’s first day of showing here in San Francisco. Yes, it has a simple plot, yet it left a huge smile on my space. I would want to see it over and over again on that 7 day run in UA Stonestown, unfortunately my work schedule would not allow it. I couldn’t wait for the DVD release! I have left comments in Starmometer more than 18 months ago, mentioning Sarah as the next Philippines Superstar. I believe AVSL success confirms that now…I am mystified though, I’ve been searching the web for the current status of AVSL and fail to get an info. I looked it up at AVSL wikipedia and someone edited it and says that it already made more than 200M. I shared that info in YouTube and I was accused of editing it myself because that person was more of a KC/Richard fan. Any how, any who :::))) I am just happy of Sarah’s success and I truly believe that she is the next BIG THING, what am I saying??? SHE IS THE CURRENT BIG/HUGE THING IN THE PHILIPPINES SHOWBIZ…
you can not gauge this for only one movie. you are not dumb to think about it. let her do, i mean SARAh more movies and see if she can carry it alone then you can say she is the new box office queen, okay” KC will prove it otherwise because she is more of a star quality than your Sarah. Sarah is more of a BAKYA potential while KC is CLASSY. KC will be the next supestar and the only one who can surpass SHARON CUNETA
